Natalia Núñez Bargueño’s latest interview for Theology Research News

We are pleased to share Natalia Núñez Bargueño’s latest interview for Theology Research News, the online publication of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at KU Leuven.

In the interview, she discusses the pioneering Catholic lay women who helped shape postwar theological and developmental debates—central protagonists of her MSCA project TheoFem. Natalia highlights how these women acted as international actors and early theological voices during the post‑1945 reconfiguration of global Catholicism.

The conversation offers a glimpse into how TheoFem is recovering their ideas, agency and transnational networks, bringing their contributions back to the forefront of contemporary historical and theological discussions.

She also reflects on her academic journey across Europe and the Americas, the challenges and opportunities of researching global Catholicism, the need to rethink the canon of women’s intellectual agency in Catholicism, and the renewed interest in spirituality among a new generation of women and men.
